Stainless steel vs carbon steel screw conveyor which is better?

Both stainless steel and carbon steel screw conveyors have their own advantages, and the better choice depends on working conditions, material properties and budget.

Carbon steel screw conveyor is low cost, high strength and good wear resistance. It is the first choice for conveying ordinary dry bulk materials such as grain, sand, cement, coal and mineral particles. It is widely used in construction, mining, metallurgy and general industrial fields. The disadvantage is that it is easy to rust and cannot adapt to corrosive, humid or food-grade environments.

Stainless steel screw conveyor features anti-rust, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and easy cleaning. It is suitable for food, pharmaceutical, chemical, sewage treatment and acidic or alkaline materials. It meets food hygiene standards, does not pollute materials, and has a longer service life in humid and corrosive environments. Its main drawback is higher price than carbon steel.

In short, carbon steel is better for ordinary non-corrosive bulk materials with budget priority; stainless steel is better for food, chemical, corrosive and hygienic required working conditions.
